About Nepal University Grading Systems

TU / KU / PU Conversion Formula

Most universities in Nepal, including Tribhuvan University (TU), Kathmandu University (KU), and Pokhara University (PU), use a standard 4.0 scale. The widely accepted formula for converting CGPA to percentage is:

Percentage = (CGPA / 4.0) × 100

For example, a CGPA of 3.0 is equivalent to (3.0 / 4.0) × 100 = 75%.

  • 75% and above Distinction
  • 60% to below 75% First Division
  • 45% to below 60% Second Division
  • 40% to below 45% Pass Division
